AVERAGE WHITE BLEND (“AWB”) is a dry, white, blended American grape wine. Our current AWB is a blend of Chardonnay and Niagara grapes. It is a great wine to drink on its own and it pairs well with meals such as seafood, chicken, pasta, crab cakes, and tofu and vegetable dishes. It also goes with snacks such as fresh or dried fruits, nuts, popcorn, pizza, breads and chocolates. Average White Blend - and all Nine Pines wines - is also great to sip while listening to music!
CABERNET SAUVIGNON (AKA “Cab Sav”) is a dry, full-bodied, oaky and fruity, dark red, American grape wine. It pairs well with red meat, Portobello mushrooms, and most hardy vegetarian meals. Also goes well with pretzels. Store slightly cool or at room temperature; serve at room temperature. Ages well.
CHARDONNAY is a semi-full-bodied, dry, white, American grape wine with a variety of flavors, especially fruits. Can be creamy and smooth and/or have crisp and tart notes. Pairs well with fish and shellfish, chicken, lemon-chicken, roasted or grilled pork, pasta with buttery or cheese-based sauces, pesto, tofu, vegetables and vegetarian meals, especially when they are roasted. It also goes well with mild and creamy cheeses like Brie, Monterey Jack and triple cream. Chardonnay’s vanilla notes also go very well with Asian cuisine.
LEMON AID is a light, zesty, semi-sweet, white/yellow, American fruit wine. It has a nice balance of mellow, tart, sweet and crisp notes. It goes well with savory meals, hard and soft cheeses, desserts – or by itself. Store and serve chilled as a cool, smooth and refreshing treat in summer – or any time! Please inquire before purchasing as we only make small batches of it at this time.
MERLOT is a medium-bodied, dry, red, American grape wine. It is generally smooth and well-balanced. It can be enjoyed by itself or with food, especially red meats and/or grilled or stir-fried vegetables. Store slightly cool or at room temperature; serve at room temperature. Ages well.
RIESLING is a light-bodied, semi-sweet, white, American grape wine. It generally has strong, floral and citrus aromas and flavors. As Riesling can be made dry, sweet, or in between, they actually go well with many types of meals and snacks. Drier Rieslings pair well with oysters and poached salmon and lemon-flavored pastas. Sweeter Rieslings pair well with desserts such as custards and sweet, tropical fruits.
SIMPLY RED is a dry, red, blended, American grape wine. Our current Simply Red is a perfect blending of Pinot Noir and Concord grapes. It is a great wine to drink on its own, or with meat, mushrooms and/or grilled vegetables, or with snacks such as fresh or dried fruits, cheeses and desserts such as chocolate. Simply Red - and all Nine Pines wines - is also great to sip while listening to music!
NOTE: Nine Pines wine can also go surprisingly well with the classic movie snack of popcorn! This is especially true when the specific flavors complement one another. For example, Chardonnay goes very well with plain and buttered popcorn, while Cabernet Sauvignon goes very well with cheesy popcorn!

THE STORY OF NINE PINES
Nine Pines is the creative dream of Jim and Christine Klinger. Christine moved to Yellow Springs, Ohio, in the 1970s, graduated from Antioch College and moved away— only to return. Christine and Jim met while they were both doing art fairs and they eventually made their home in Yellow Springs.
When they bought their land on Hilt Road in 2006, the Klingers started exploring and enhancing the large, existing barn and land that would move their future dreams into reality. At the time, they counted nine tall, stately pine trees in the woods along their country lane.
So, they called their land NINE PINES.
In early 2020, when covid-19 shut down all the art fairs Jim had been doing with his raku ceramics for 25 years, the Klingers realized a Plan B was needed. As a musician, Jim had played in rock and blues bands for many years prior to his visual art career, so when covid caused Jim to shift gears - he made a welcome return to his musical roots. Since both the Klingers loved Yellow Springs, they decided to use Nine Pines to share their gratitude by creating a small winery as a place to enjoy wine, art, and music with their community.
Jim even has winemaking in his DNA: “As immigrants coming to the United States in the 1920s,” Jim said, “my family brought some of their Old-World customs to the New World.” On his mother’s side, Jim’s Baba (Macedonian for grandmother) made wine at home. And when Jim was growing up, his father (of German ancestry) made wine in their family home. “I remember going down to the basement every night to help him crush the grapes and then to watch the bubbles as the wine fermented. I saw my dad rack the wine into jugs and, later, enjoy it with his friends.” Thus, the seeds for NINE PINES WINERY were planted.
